De Loire is de laatste wilde rivier van Europa en fascineert door zijn onverklaarbare grillen: beurtelings kalm en dan weer wild, heeft ze een rivierbed vol verrassingen uitgeslepen, met groene eilanden en bewegende zandbanken.
Vanaf 2000 beschermt de Unesco het Dal van de Loire vanwege het architectonische erfgoed dat nauw is verbonden met de uitzonderlijke en goed behouden natuur. Het gaat om de grootste beschermde plaats in Frankrijk, 280 km lang tussen Sully-sur-Loire in Loiret en Chalonnes-sur-Loire in Anjou.
Deze temperamentvolle rivier kunt u vanaf het water tijdens een boottocht ontdekken, of in de lucht, te voet of op de fiets.
